February 2020 – Planning Appeal Success for Clavering Walk, Cooden, Bexhill-on-Sea

Ben Wright (Landscape Planning Director) recently gave landscape evidence in respect of a site located in Bexhill for 85 dwellings on behalf of Bellway Homes Ltd which was refused planning permission by Rother District Council. One of the main matters for consideration was whether the proposal would harm the character of the landscape which may or may not form part of a valued landscape.

The Inspector overturned the Local Planning Authority’s decision and allowed planning permission, summarising that “taking all of the elements in the balance into account I find that the side of the balance in favour of the proposals prevails as the identified harms in combination do not significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the scheme.”
