The Street, Bramley, Basingstoke
Aspect Landscape Planning were appointed to undertake the landscape design to support the planning application for a residential development in Bramley, Basingstoke by Redrow Homes. The development consists of 140 residential units with a substantial amount of public open and amenity space for the benefit of residents and the wider community. This includes an allotment area, a community orchard, a bowling green, a skate park, a LEAP and a trim trail. In addition to these areas Aspect designed the large area of open space to include a new woodland to connect with the wider landscape and wildflower meadows one of which was designed to allow dogs to be let off their leads. As well as the large community orchard an ‘Apple walk’ was proposed with several species of apple selected for potential use by residents. The designs for all these elements were conveyed on a landscape strategy plan and detailed design was provided on planting and hard landscape plans. The trim trail included natural elements of play in the form of timber equipment and a willow tunnel. A formal play area with timber equipment was designed with a sensory garden proposed to provide informal play opportunities on-route to the play area. Detailed design of the play space and trim trail was provided on play space plans which included specification for the proposed play equipment.
