Bessant Drive Kew
Aspect Landscape Planning were instructed to prepare a Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment alongside the detailed landscape design associated with the redevelopment of the former Inland Revenue site at Bessant Drive, Kew. The scheme included 170 high quality new homes and doctor’s surgery within four, five and six storey blocks arranged around a central communal public space designed to accommodate a multitude of uses and green areas conducive to happy and healthy lifestyle for new residents. The central landscape design was key to creating a high quality and interesting proposal and incorporated a number of constraints including retaining an emergency vehicular access route throughout which has been disguised with the use of varied hard landscape materials, as well as the tree planting located on a podium level on top of the underground parking area. A number of previous planning applications on the site were refused and subsequently dismissed at appeal, and as such Aspect’s expertise was required for preparing the robust Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment as well as a bespoke and unique landscape scheme, and achieved a successful outcome at planning.
